Current Theme September 2009
I don’t want the current themes to be a notice board but there are a few exciting events that I would like to highlight:
Picnic in the Park (Building community)
Some of us are having a picnic in Kidwells Park on the 6th September after the morning meeting. Please come and join us. Bring your own lunch and enjoy it with some friends. We will have large cooler boxes to keep our drinks cool and we will buy ice lollies for the children. We will have a volleyball court, rounders and boules for you to participate in if you want. Bring your own picnic blanket. We will take a few chairs from the church for those who would prefer to sit in style. There are trees for shade and we trust there will be some good summer sun. If it rains we will just picnic in the Outback and Extension!
Alpha (Sharing the good news of Jesus)
The ‘Get a Life Group’ (that’s the Life Group I belong to) will be running an Alpha Course on Tuesday evenings at Costa Coffee in Maidenhead High Street. The Alpha Course begins on Tuesday 6th October and runs for ten weeks finishing on 8th December. This will be a great place for friends to explore the Christian faith in a relaxed atmosphere over a good cup of coffee (or tea!)
There are bookmarks available to focus our prayer and invitations for guests will be available from the 6th September. Please let Stuart, Louise or Sarah Lawton know if you have friends who are able to attend.
Weekend away in 2010 (Growing in Christ and building community)
Our Jubilee Weekend Away in 2008 was great and the feedback was that it moved us on individually and as a church. How about the 5th to 7th March 2010 at Wokefield Park in Mortimer again?
We will talk about it at the member’s night on the 4th October.
Week of prayer (Essential!)
Corrie Ten Boom once asked the question: ‘Is prayer your steering wheel or your spare tyre?’
It’s a good question. Prayer undergirds everything. The times are in the Jubilee Diary in this newsletter. Please join us as we enjoy God’s presence and seek His face and direction both individually and as a church.
Let’s be full of faith and expectancy … Go for it!
Blessings
Stuart
