Freedom from Fistula (The Goodall Family)

We are Barney, Liz, Noah (6) and Judah (2) Goodall. We have been serving with Mercy Ships for the last 18 months, as part of the team providing life-saving surgeries to those without access to safe, affordable and timely surgical care. We want to thank you for partnering with us during this time, and for your generous financial support that made this a possibility.

Liz has had a passion for the last 6-7 years to serve women with Obstetric Fistula. This is a devastating childbirth injury, that perpetuates the misery and suffering of a woman who has been through the unimaginable. The societal, cultural and relational aspect of this condition cannot be underestimated. Liz was able to work full time during the Women’s health block on the Ship in Guinea, through God changing circumstances and opening doors that only He could open (an amazing testimony we hope to share with you if you have not heard!)

This past summer (2019) we felt God was uprooting us again to go on another journey of faith… and then came a phone call from a charity specialising in Obstetric Fistula. We have been offered volunteer roles with “Freedom From Fistula” in Madagascar starting in January 2020. Liz will be working with the surgeon there training in the specifics of Fistula surgery and providing clinical care as a Gynaecology Registrar and Barney will be assisting, mentoring and helping the non-clinical team as the charity transitions. We will also be home schooling Noah, at least in the early months, while hopefully Judah will attend a local nursery.

We value the love and support we receive from Jubilee Community Church. Thank you for the prayers and encouragement you continue to be to us. We would be grateful if you would consider whether you would like to financially support us, as these are volunteer positions and we are stepping out in faith that God will meet all our needs. If you would like to receive our blog, please email us.
If you would like to receive prayer requests as and when they occur, please indicate your wish to this email address, include your mobile phone number and we will add you to our prayer “Whatsapp” group.

How to financially support us
Freedom from Fistula are also a UK registered charity, however as they are significantly smaller than Mercy Ships the methods of donation are slightly different. Below we’ve laid out the different ways to support us financially, however if you have any questions please let us know.

UK Tax Payers – Donating and adding gift aid
If you are able to add UK gift aid to your donation (boosting the amount by 25%) then please support us through the ‘Charities Aid Foundation’ (CAFOnline.org) website. They are a third-party charity that handle the administrative side of processing donations and gift aid for other charities for a small fee.

When you arrive on the CAF donation page you will need to scroll down to the "Find a charity" section and search for "Freedom from Fistula" this will bring up a list - please click on "donate" on the right hand-side this will take you to a page that includes three different payment options:
  • Via a CAF Charity Account (for monthly support)
  • Card Payments
  • Paypal
When making the donation, please click the ‘Add special instructions for this donation’ box and add the following wording “Goodall Family Support – Madagascar” . This will enable Freedom from Fistula to ensure that your donations are specifically routed to us.
